Summary
The Act (which received Royal Assent in Nov 2006) introduces major reforms, including plans to reduce the regulatory requirements for smaller companies and to make it easier to set up and run a company.
BERR published a final implementation timetable in Dec 2007, which will see all remaining provisions in force on various dates to Oct 2009 - these include a raft of changes affecting objects clauses, annual general meetings, duties of directors and disclosure of their details, and removal of the requirement to appoint a company secretary.
