Charities & not for profit organisations
Andrew Jackson has been involved in advising charities, trustees and the not for profit sector for generations, and several of its lawyers are themselves trustees of, and involved in the running of such organisations.
The firm continues to have an increasing involvement in acting for charities and the Charities Unit comprises specialists who advise on various aspects of the law and how it relates to charities and not for profit organisations.
New legislation requires new thinking and knowledge assimilation and our lawyers have taken steps to keep pace with the Charities Act 2006 and its changes to many areas and principles of charity law. Our team works with clients to help them achieve their objectives. By working closely with clients as a part of their teams, we have helped many projects reach their planned conclusions.
Our experience ranges from advising on the fulfilment of large scale charitable real estate and research based developments to assisting with the dividing up of a local inner city sports club and the transfer of its activities to another local charity.
Our team also has experience and can provide advice in relation to the day to day commercial activities of charities and not for profit organisations such as in relation to amendments to governing documents and also providing general advice in relation to ad hoc operating matters such as proposals for capital expenditure; advising on the legal implications of the online publication of trustee meeting minutes, creation of a proposed trading subsidiary and advising on dealing with nuisance tenants.
